Choose software

Set.fm Studio
for iOS

It’s just one-click to record and one-click to publish. After setting up the set details on our webiste, use either an iPhone or an iPad to do the recording. This option is quick and portable -- perfect for artists on the go. Note: The camera connection kit is required.

Set.fm Studio
for Mac or Windows

Our desktop solutions include a Set.fm Studio application and plugins which can be used in several digital audio workstations. Our plugins are compatible with audio recording applications such as Logic Pro, GarageBand, Reaper (shareware), and many others. This option offers the greatest control and highest fidelity recordings possible.

Choose hook up

Capturing audio is easy.
Here are a few ways you can set things up:

1. Direct Board Feed + Room Mic

Depending on the venue board, use XLR or 1/4 inch cable to USB mixer. Position a room mic in the venue and connect to mixer. Connect USB cable from mixer to iPad or laptop and record with Set.fm Studio.

Gear: XLR or 1/4 inch cable, USB Mixer, Room Mic, Mic cable, USB Cable, iPad or laptop, camera connection kit, headphones

This setup requires the most gear but it results in the greatest control and highest-fidelity recordings. A mixer enables you to set the left and right balance on the room mic, control the mix of sound coming from the venue’s mixing table versus the room mic, and easily control the overall levels to prevent clipping.

2. Direct Board Feed (mono or stereo feed from board, stereo preferred).

Option A: Run board feed using an analog to digital converter cable to iPad or laptop and record with Set.fm Studio.

Gear: ¼ inch to USB or XLR to USB cable, iPad or laptop, iPad camera connection kit, headphones

Option B: Depending on the venue board, use XLR or 1/4 inch cable to USB mixer. Connect USB cable from mixer to iPad or laptop and record with Set.fm Studio.

Gear: XLR or 1/4 inch cable, USB Mixer, USB Cable, iPad or laptop, camera connection kit, headphones

This setup is ideal for performances where everything is running through the house speakers and being mixed. Using a USB mixer will allow you to control the overall levels to prevent clipping. Since you are only getting audio from the board, only the instruments in the board mix will be recorded.

3. USB Microphone

Simply connect to a iPad or laptop and use Set.fm Studio to instantly publish your set after you finish performing. You can also just use a H2N (or something similar) to record and upload it later.

Gear: iPad, Apple or PC laptop, with Set.fm Studio app. USB Microphone, USB Cable, iPad camera connection kit, headphones

This setup is ideal for performers who want the quickest and easiest recording solution and works best for acoustic performers. The sound will be raw with this solution, and if you use an H2N (or something similar) and do not stream through Set.fm Studio, the audio will not be made instantly available for purchase.
