About the Artist

Celebratory Alternative/Indie Pop. Dance with us.

"Rachel Mallin is a self-produced singer/songwriter that finds it difficult to comply within the restrictions of one genre. Whether it’s her self-proclaimed A.D.D. tendencies or another likeable force blending sounds, Mallin has a way with uniting the unlikely." - Andreina Byrne (Demencha Magazine) At age 19, Kansas City native and stiff upper lip indie songwriter and producer, Rachel Mallin hit the ground sprinting with her basement-generated EP titled “The Persistence of Vision”. In the wake of its release, listeners were mesmerized by the enchanting blend of hypnotic grooves beneath the layers of her soulfully perceptive and original lyrics. In less than a year following her four-track EP's release, featured songs such as "Razorback" and "Noise of the Night" were discovered and broadcasted by alternative/indie radio stations at a local and national level. Fast forward to the year 2015. Three fearless, pioneering musicians and songwriters such as Justin Walker (bass), Austin Edmisten (drums/vox), and Jesse Bartmess (synth/keys), deemed as The Wild Type for short, take to the live stage with Rachel in support of musical acts such as Metric, Panic is Perfect, The Lonely Wild, Pan Astral, and The Architects. In the span of 10 months Rachel’s original songs crawled up from the depths of her basement and reached listeners all around the world. Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type plan to release their first collaborative EP on February 29th, 2016.
