12:25 – 1:45 PM: Exploring the Innovative Advances of China and India
As of May 2019, the world's three most populous countries are the United States with 330 million people, India with 1,346 million people, and China with 1,397 million people. From advanced space programs and important movie production hubs to their own ecommerce and content streaming platforms, these innovative countries offer artists and rights-holders much more than just scale. The HUGE scale (over 35% of the world’s population is in China and India) can be distracting… both markets have strong culture and arts tradition, as well as very competitive marketplaces. Both with their own specializations, selling music into these countries requires research and insights. Chinese and Indian leadership is increasingly visible, with the goal that innovations will drive their music and business exports to success around the world. Two experts will share their own personal overviews of their home markets and their national music businesses.
